Position Summary
We continue to grow and are now recruiting top talent to join in the launch of the business capital advance operations division as our Director of Underwriting. This individual will act as a coach to the underwriting team, drive execution of performance related to quality consistency and speed and develop risk policies. Additionally, this individual will partner cross-functionally with Data Science/Risk Management, Sales, Marketing, Compliance and others to develop our originations risk policies and improve the underwriting process for the future. Other duties include:
• Identifying, measuring, and reporting on key performance indicators (KPIs)
• Staffing, coaching, and developing the underwriting department, including but not limited to: Underwriters, Funding Specialists, and Credit Analysts
• Driving execution performance and improving operational benefits
• Partnering on the development of underwriting guidelines, policies, and new products
• Ensuring adherence to company credit policies and all applicable laws and regulations
• Assisting with translating operational risk concepts into process-based solutions
• Providing second signature or sole signature authority for high dollar and high risk deals
Qualifications (Required)
In order to successfully execute on these responsibilities, we are looking for candidates with the following credentials:
• Minimum of three (3) years direct experience working in the alternative lending, working capital, and/or merchant cash advance industry in medium or large lending firms.
• Bachelor’s degree in business, finance or related discipline.
• Approximately eight (8) years or more of demonstrated competency in a Commercial Underwriting role ($0-$5MM in credit authority)
• Approximately three (3) years or more of successful Underwriting Management experience
Commercial credit training
• Familiarity with scoring as it pertains to underwriting
• Demonstrated ability to coach and develop team members
• Clear and effective oral and written communication skills
• Proficiency with the MS Office suite
