    Yes, it's real. DOJ says the investigation was carried out by the FDIC. The indictment referred to both companies as "mortgage lenders," not banks or online lenders. It also said that the merchant applied to National Funding for a "restaurant loan" of $35,000. National Funding is a small business lender.
