When I log in after a batch of loans post, I can watch as certain, choice loans fill in a few seconds (watching percent-funded, as I refresh a loan's page).  This leads me to wonder if some loans are filling even faster than I can see, instantaneously in human-time. 

Does anyone have insight into how quickly the shortest-lived loans are filled?

I don't use words like "choice loans", because which loans are actually the best to invest in is a complex subject, with widely differing opinions.  However, there are loans that more people want than others, and those do go quickly.

Last year I produced this data.  I just polled the API once a second and recorded the numbers.  (Note: You can try to poll once per second, but sometimes, especially right at feeding time, LC takes longer than 1 second to respond, so the data points aren't exactly spaced 1 second apart.  The horizontal axis is the actual timestamp of the response.



I haven't rerun this recently.  I think you can see the general situation.  Look at the grey curve.  Significant activity in the first 15 seconds.

The format of the numbers on the horizontal axis are mm:ss.s, where mm is minutes and ss is seconds.

I read a very thorough, 4-part analysis on Anil's site a few years ago where he explored whether the quickest funding loans were the best performing loans:

He basically came to the conclusion that loans that are funded the quickest are not necessarily the best in terms of ROI or lower default rate, except for perhaps the A and B grade loans. I don't know if that is still true today. I am hoping it is because I'm an unsophisticated buyer and rely LC's auto-invest, which I presume is slower than some of the APIs and subscription-based services out there.
