General P2P Lending Discussion /

Recession. Okay, I said it.
Are we already in one, one shortly to come, a narrow miss or a miss by a mile?
Since the start of a recession is officially declared way after it starts we won't know for a while.

If we are or soon will be in recession we will finally get an answer to that often asked question:
"How will market place lending perform over a full cycle"?

General P2P Lending Discussion / Lending Club Is A Bank
February 18, 2020, 11:00:00 PM
At the open at least the equity market isn't impressed. LC is down $1.20 per share (-9.12%) to $11.96 per share.
They did announce quarterly earnings last evening which is a major factor of course.
Where it will close is anyone's guess. BTW the Dow is up 82.

Borrowers - LC / Documentation advice?

You might try Prosper or Marcus. Marcus is cutting back on personal loans of late so Prosper may be a better bet. We're only a week away from the required date for you to get your 1099's. Get the 2019 taxes done before applying and it should be a breeze. If you do try one of these let us know how it works out.

Pretty much the first one to the party and the last one to leave. I admire your stamina!

I took a look at the statistics section of the LC website today. Specifically the chart titled "Investor Account Returns by Average Age of Portfolio" and made the following selections:

Average Age of Portfolio: 24 - 30 months (the maximum)
Portfolio Concentration: Any
Minimum Notes per Account: 100

Weighted Average10th90th
Interest Rate%tileMedian%tile
0% - 9%3.3%4.3%5.3%
9% - 12%2.7%4.1%5.5%
12% - 15%1.7%3.5%5.5%
15% - 18%0.9%3.2%5.9%
18%+3.3%2.8%6.0%
ALL3.3%3.6%5.6%

Something interesting to watch in the future on a quarterly or annual basis.

Investors - LC / Worst Month Yet

It's time for a fire sale:

Only a little over $500 outstanding principal; considerably sooner than expected.
Higher charge offs than projected. I lost about $25 this month. Percentage wise it was truly the worst month ever, but money wise it was nothing.
Only about 250 notes now "un-dead". I should be able to blow them out on Folio manually and plan to discount them to whatever makes them go away.
About half are B grade so some decent bargains should pop up for the Folio Hawks. The rest are D's & E's; I'll probably have to give them away.
Fine with me; I just want to be done .. done before the end of the year.

Foliofn - LC / ytm vs. remaining payments

I think this old thread has some relevance here:

Topic: Interest Rate, Yield to Maturty (YTM) and Service Fees

I also posted this in the "Picking up Pennies" thread as well.

Investors - P / Worst Month Yet, Prosper Version
October 24, 2019, 11:00:00 PM
A fitting end to this thread. One more note to go, principal outstanding $0.03.
As a reminder I stopped investing the moment Prosper arbitrarily withdrew from the Folio Platform and shut the door behind me in Sep 2016.
In hindsight they did me a favor! I didn't totally shut down LC until Jan 2017. "It was a bad call Ripley; a bad call." Burke, Carter J. Aliens.
