I think there is an inherent conflict of interest for LC/Prosper to do this.  Because of the origination and servicing fees that they can earn, they want the borrowers.

Besides, in the credit card industry, I don't think Issuer A checks whether Issuer B will also extend credit card to the same borrower at the same time, do they?

Investors - P / Is Prosper turning around?
April 09, 2013, 11:00:00 PM
IMHO, Prosper should focus on being "profitable" rather than being big.

LC claims that they are now "operationally profitable."  I am not aware of similar statements made by Prosper.

VCs would more readily extend help to small, profitable companies than to big, not-profitable ones.

I also noticed that the number of "Removed" fully-funded loans is lower recently.  Usually about half of my fully-funded loans didn't get to the "Issued" status; however, most of them do nowadays.

Perhaps this is another reason for the lower number of borrowers: LC is now more stringent on the borrowers.

Investors - LC / FICO Score updates
December 31, 1969, 06:00:00 PM
If you see from the FICO change charts, it looks like the updates occurs on the 12th of the month.

I am attaching a "FICO Change Chart", but it does not show on the "Preview" of this reply; hopefully, it still works though.

An alternative explanation: the growth of investors is much higher than that of borrowers.

Investors - LC / LC exports changed... again
December 31, 1969, 06:00:00 PM
I am not sure which is worse:

- getting errors in your program because of changes in the data
- not getting errors, but also not realizing of new ways in getting data

Ideally, LC should announce these changes.

However, since LC does not have official API, they may not feel obligated to announce their "back-end" changes to developers trying to download data programatically.
