Investors - LC / charge offs + folio
February 18, 2014, 11:00:00 PM
so payments don't go through for 4 days yet the day the payment starts the note delist's for what ever reason (xdividend date sorta) that being said you sell the dang thing on a friday and since monday's a holiday, w/ tuesday as the pay day (normally youd be ok but this week the buy/sell dies - yay!)....

So why the heck do I buy a note on the 14th - wait 4 days for it to pend just for it to go charge off on the 18th THEN post to my account?!

My fault for not looking at the days since last payment - but still.. shouldn't the concept be the same?  Big change the same day as payment?

I think I want to covernt my Trad IRA (in a growth dividend paying mutul fund (XIRR 8.5%)  to a Roth IRA for the market.  Go for some long term gains.  Stick and Stay.  Theres some industries I've read about that look ready to explode and jhave already been rising the past year or so with no end in sight.  All I've read says I have not missed yet but if I hold those as a Roth IRA when they grow, the long term cap gains is FREEEEEEEEEEEE.  While the mutual fund's dividiend is only lost at 15% (the price per share has been the same since I boguht it, its purely just a constant payer since inception). As great as LC is - when I have more money id open the free Roth for this too since paying the full income rate on this is crap, but for now I'll just stick with it out in the open and play around.  Anything I make here is a bonus considering its all better then the 1% my bank gives me.

Investors - LC / 36 or 60?
March 18, 2013, 11:00:00 PM
Does this matter to you guys?

Now I know investment time matters on a personal investor-goals kind of way so let me just say I am only 25, so I do not look at this as a "short term" thing were in a few years I'd need my money back.  I have enough liquid savings floating around to survive.  But I have an IRA with a Franklin Temp Mutual fund so I wouldn't consider this nearly as long term as that... Every time I get $25 in payments, I buy a new note so it's not like I'm cashing out, but something about the 60 months make me feel ... weird.  And I know its not about opinion because historical performance and models is what most of you go off of... soooo

36 or 60 or Both indiscriminately?

March 16, 2013, 11:00:00 PM
OK - so I know its not funny but it's a little funny:

Collection Log
2/25/13 (Monday)    Sent email to borrower
2/22/13 (Friday)    Contacted a 3rd party or borrowers acquaintance
2/11/13 (Monday)    PAYMENT Failed
1/9/13 (Wednesday)    Borrower deceased
1/9/13 (Wednesday)    Borrower contacted Lending Club

...On the 9th he called in to tell LC he was dead so he doesn't have to pay anymore.

All of my 3/4 notes are completed in grace period now also.
And my one 3/5 note is now on a payment plan and is now set to pay the 11th.  His payment failed on the 8th and they contacted him... YAY https://forum.lendacademy.com/Smileys/default/sad.gif" alt=":(" title="Sad" class="smiley" />

I don't think all of the funds have hit my account yet tho.

Hi everyone.  My names Greg.  First let me thank you for the wealth of knowledge I've already obsorbed from the shadows.  I started like Cliff here, right after the new year becuase similarly, Capital One is giving me a wopping .05% on my savings!  Wooooo (opened up the new high yield checking acct with them for a market leading 1% which still.. stinks).

Hoping to learn a lot, and then share a lot back once the student has become the master :-P
