Investors - LC / liquidation strategy on folio
May 26, 2016, 11:00:00 PM
It used to be that there were a lot of states that could only buy notes on Folio in which case it made sense that notes sold for a mark-up since there was significant demand that couldn't be satisfied by LC directly.  Currently though there are only four states that can't invest in LC loans directly (PA, NC, NM, and AK).  There are really only two reasons I can think of that you would want to buy a note on Folio instead of directly from LC. One you are getting a nice discount or two you can't buy any other way.

The only time I buy from Folio is when I can get nice loans at a 3-5% discount.

Has anyone tried any of the budding real estate investment platforms that are starting to be offered to small investors under the new Reg A rules that allow them to crowd source investments?  A few that I've seen are

FundRise
GroundFloor
RealtyShares

Curious on peoples experience with any of them.  FundRise supposedly has a waiting list but they also had some sordid affair with their CFO recently where he accused the company of fraud and they accused him of extortion.  I checked out GroundFloor a while back and it seemed dead.  Just saw an ad for Realty shares when researching the other two.

I think you are going to have to be more specific.  Because I have been reading these boards regularly for the better part of the past year and I have no idea what you are taking about.  Also appealing for, "direct truth over vague rumor" and then being vague yourself isn't exactly walking the walk.

The technology side of LendingClubs business has always seemed to me to be a bit of a disaster.  They appear to use technologies favored by large entrenched conglomerates instead of those common to nimble innovative start-ups.  In other words I'm not holding my breath.
