BlueVestment / BlueVestment or PLS?
April 15, 2014, 11:00:00 PM
you have to install stuff for pls. I skipped it for this reason.

this is what I thought the default was. are currencies treated differently (i.e. are not considered property like usd would be)?

The best indication that their credit model is working accurately is a sameness between captured returns across the grades. b-g should basically give you the same return if you buy all the notes offered. This is the fully diversified naive portfolio that shows how well they are pricing risk to give an after default economic return for the platform. I think they've been doing a pretty darn good job. B-G are basically giving you about the same.

Investing - General (not P2P) / Index Futures Leverage
February 02, 2014, 11:00:00 PM
Some people invest in S&P futures to avail themselves of the cheap financing embedded in the instrument.  E.g. I have calculated that my best portfolio (on some efficient market frontier) is 70% bonds, 30% stocks. The return of this portfolio sucks so I borrow money (by buying stocks via futures and I free up 28% of my portfolio) to further buy stocks/bonds.

In general this is a good plan but don't forget to account for the transaction costs in refinancing. There isn't much point swapping a 18.99% loan for a 16.99% loan. Those transaction fees are gone gone so consider spending that money on paying down the principal.

Investors - P / Prosper--OK, you win!
January 19, 2014, 11:00:00 PM
I'm investigating NSR Premium to automateProsper investing. I'm fine with their business plan including me or not but am wildly irritated by their absolutely shitty customer service. I've asked for instructions on withdrawing idle cash from an IRA (the proper forms) six time - messages, emails, emails to salespeople, emails to corporate, calls, whathaveyou. Zero response. I'll wait and see how NSRP works then make a decision to close the account or not. If I choose to close the account I can let people know how liquidation goes.

I have not seen more than 33 loans on the platform. Peter and Zach should really move Prosper under 'other platforms' on this forum as there really isn't that much 'peer' related stuff to talk about.

flippers usually have a significantly lower commission from agents since they're getting a large number of listings from a single person instead of having to pay to acquire each customer (via free notepads etc)

Evaluating credit like this seems more like fundamental stock analysis than technical stock analysis. I would consider the analogy of picking notes out of LC's credit model being more like analyst rankings at your brokerage. With a bit of judgement and significant diligent effort, you can probably do better than the analyst (or at least pick a subset of his picks that fit with your investment scheme).  You can apply two different models to the same data and get very different results. The model doesn't have to be filter results based or algorithmic, it's just a framework you can test.

BlueVestment / BlueVestment Offering Free Auto-Invest
January 07, 2014, 11:00:00 PM
That's awesome. NSRP ignores my emails, IR is in a state of mild uncertainty, lendingrobot is not usable yet (there is no recordkeeping), and peersociallendingserver wants me to dedicate a computer (which is just a little crazy, though not completely crazy).

I'm hoping bluevestment will work better. AND it has stamp of approval from the better bryce bureau, what a score!
