Agree, it is not a trivial thing. It becomes much more complex when you have do this for other users. There are lot of gotchas you need to guard against when doing this for other people.

I didn't have any issues with login. Yesterday, when I logged in, system sent me an email with code right away. I selected remember device during login with code, since then no more requests for code.

Three important transformations are:
  • Installment to Income
  • Loan Amount to Revolving Balance
  • Credit Age (Earliest Credit Date - Loan Issue Date)

You can easily calculate actual duration of a loan from information listed in portfolio notes CSV file:

I published a 5-part series of blog posts in 2014 on similar topic. My conclusion: it is a losing proposition.

It will be very difficult to guess that this loan will go bad ahead of issuance. I seriously doubt any automated system would have considered this loan bad to lend during the time it was available for funding. Only, if you were lending manually, reviewed the extended credit data on the loan, and loan took long enough to fund so that you can extract, evaluate, and analyze this particular loan, yes there were some questionable items in extended credit attribute that would have raised the suspicion.

On PeerCube, Folio LC > Pricing Overview also gives a good idea on what kind of discounts/premiums sellers are listing their notes at. PeerCube also offers multiple selling strategies and way to restrict selling to specific portfolio. Of course automated system can only do so much and are not fully idiot-proof.

Lending is cyclical and runs somewhat counter to economy and stock market. Banks and institutions are like sheep herd. Good times everybody enters slowly, bad times everybody rushes out quickly. As soon as few of them slow down/stop lending, everyone will rush to exit. Above average returns in lending comes from lending when fewer are lending.

LC just needs to be patient and stay on track. They need to introduce breadth (both duration and types) of credit products. I am hoping that recent rise in expenses is result of LC gearing up for implementing medium/longer term growth strategies rather than continuing to focus on survival in the short term.

Good analysis. Why and how did you decide to pick homeownership, unemployment, and verification attributes for analysis?

You most probably wil have different explanation if you used covariance matrix to select attributes to be analyzed. I believe your findings can easily be explained using income attribute. Borrower Income has the largest influence on loan performance. High income borrowers (except unusual/incorrect  income numbers reported) likely to have mortgage (not rent), employed, and income not verified.

Just FYI, new Folio API has order history call that you can use to capture order history. We implemented this on PeerCube so users are able to view order history and settled orders.

In my account, system placed 45 buy orders out of which 41 settled successfully. I don't believe many buy orders placed successfully get cancelled.

Investors - LC / New Platform

This is very typical of when a new CTO comes in to a business and may bring a new technical team. CTO need to show some results in first 100 days. They are typically clueless of business operations, issues, and how to improve technically that may be accretive to business in first 100 days. So, easiest way to show they are doing something is to redo existing features/functionalities in their favorite language, framework, technology, and products. LC CTO is right now on schedule with his 100 days goals of mucking with existing stuff instead of doing anything that will be productive for business.

Just leave the account open until you are due to be assessed with fee for not maintaining minimum balance. Then just close the account.
