Suggestions / Private Investor Forum?
April 29, 2013, 11:00:00 PM
Like several of you, I don't know the benefit from having a member's only area for investors. As Dennis said, how much can be altered by the borrower if most investors are relying on credit history and other items that are verified by a third party via a credit pull? Do you really weigh the verbage in a listing that much? Especially considering an increasing number of applicants don't bother putting anything in the description?

I mean, in reality, how many borrowers have sought out Lend Academy, found the forum, and then drilled down into the multitude of investor posts to find some small details about how they describe their loan might benefit their funding or misrepresent their creditworthiness? I'd say slim to none, and slim's out of town...

Investors - P / Is Prosper turning around?
April 04, 2013, 11:00:00 PM
@Dennis - Sounds very similar to what Lending Club has in place with the fractional/whole loan situation. I think that will be a very effective way to "level" the playing field, and will help get Prosper through the next wave of growth as they pursue institutional investors.

Great tip New Jersey!

I think it is possible, but inconsistent at best. As New Jersey stated, things can be going gangbusters and then fall apart with no notice. Dare I say buy high, sell low? I certainly noticed this last fall myself where week to week was drastically different in the profit I could make on selling notes, even those with improved credit, consistent payments, and good fundamentals.

Folio, while a useful tool, has a very inconsistent market place. I believe part of this is the normal fluctuations of any market, and another part is the vast inefficiencies presented by Folio itself. Interest Radar is a great tool to help cut through the garbage for Folio investors, but I'm sure his market share of secondary market purchasers is relatively small still.

Nice work AmCap, thank you for your analysis.

And I agree with Peter... They are big enough, especially now, that there is no excuse for them not to have taken the appropriate steps in hiring a tax lawyer.
