Investors - P / Worst Month Yet, Prosper Version
November 03, 2017, 11:00:00 PM
Folks, I don't understand...  My return continues to be great on Prosper.  I have about 2100 active loans(mostly 36 month term) and my dashboard shows an annualized net return of 10.18% and a seasoned annualized net return of 8.78%.  LendingRobot has me at a portfolio health of 98.74% and an expected return of 11.71%.  I haven't sat down to try to figure out my actual rates, but as of November 1st I have earned about 9% or so of my average balance this year, so those numbers pass the sanity test - or maybe even seem a bit low.  I have to think that your results are either due to purely using automated investing or lack of diversification.  I have spent a decent amount of time developing an algorithm and a program to choose notes daily to (at least try to) optimize both.

Right now, my biggest concern is the tax hit that I will take due to the way losses are treated compared to gains as this is my first full year being "fully" invested.  Otherwise very happy with Prosper and P2P investing.

Investors - P / Why Prosper?
November 02, 2017, 11:00:00 PM
Not really sure why you need a secondary market, as I've built my portfolio to get a 3-4% monthly cash flow on an investment that's yielding 9-10% annually. Where else can you do that consistently?

Investors - P / Worst Month Yet, Prosper Version

Don't know, but I am having great luck with Prosper.  I have over invested in more than 2000 loans and am getting >10% return coming up on my first anniversary.  I think the only way to go is to use the API.  The auto invest doesn't have adequate filtering and its far too tedious to do manually.

I believe the data is available at https://www.prosper.com/investor/marketplace#/download" class="bbc_link" target="_blank">https://www.prosper.com/investor/marketplace#/download.  Its probably a pain for NSR to reconcile the latest data since the data fields all changed earlier this year.

General Discussion / PeerStreet test drive
July 05, 2017, 11:00:00 PM
I am doing a bit of a test drive on PeerStreet and was wondering if others have had similar results.  These are my observations so far:

- Auto investing is weak at best.  Auto invest has not yet purchased a loan for me, even though a dozen or so have become available.  I have manually invested in three loans during that time that would have met my auto-invest criteria.

- Loans are more or less sold out prior to an email notification of a new loan.  I still haven't figured out if the loans are available on the site prior to the notification going out, whether someone is buying large chucks of loans off-market, or whether I just don't have any priority on auto-invest

- The investor is completely dependent on PeerStreet when it comes to the LTV estimates.  Lets face it, those are completely dependent on an appraisal and any of us that were around in 2007 have seen how far off those can be.  Additionally, there is almost no "skin in the game" for every loan.  PeerStreet says its because of the high investor demand....  Ok....  But in an inevitable down market, that will drive the foreclosure rate higher.

All in all, I like the concept and I am reasonably happy with the platform (although I really wish it had an API).  I am still making more return on my Prosper account, but I haven't quite completed my first year there, so there may be some start up variability.  I will continue to cautiously invest in PeerStreet and see how it goes.

I won't bother to put the 1% bump link on here...  :-)

Investors - P / Quick Invest vs. API vs. Third Party
April 10, 2017, 11:00:00 PM
I am just curious how investors on this board automate their investments.  For instance, are most investors simply relying on the "Quick Invest" or other automated feature on the Prosper site?  If not are you using a third party application or paying a website (like LendingRobot) to manage your portfolio.  Finally, how many of you have built your own API interface to automate your Prosper investments?

I have tried all three, and am curious if my experience is similar to everyone else's.  I have finally landed on having a standalone Java app running on a PC to handle loan purchases and basic cash management.

Investors - P / Problems with Prosper website???
April 01, 2017, 11:00:00 PM
I had the same problem.  It seems to have been resolved since Friday.

I noticed that everything worked right until the bulk loan update (12:00 or 6:00 EDT).  I also noticed that some API calls worked fine, yet I received multiple server errors from identically structured calls.  My theory is that all of the recent changes have everyone's API calls screwed up, causing unnecessary bandwidth and bringing the site to its knees.  It would seem to clear up around 30-45 minutes after the scheduled bulk loan upload.

I only have a few months experience with Prosper.  I am really happy with the results (return on investment) so far, but the website quality and the level of communication leave a lot to be desired.  I also believe that the new changes on the Prosper website, particularly the saved searches and automated investing, are simply not tenable.  I am so happy now that I spent the time to create an API interface to automate my loan purchases in a way that makes sense.  Makes me wonder - if I have the time to invest in a decent automated investing application, why doesn't Prosper?http://forum.lendacademy.com/Smileys/default/huh.gif" alt="???" title="Huh" class="smiley" />
