Investors - LC / The wind-down
December 06, 2021, 01:04:18 PM
One of my 3 remaining accounts was paid off in 7/2020 but still shows as open.

I called today to ask about it and they just called it a glitch.  When my other 2 notes get paid off and disappear from my list I'm wondering what pain-in-the-butt issues having this one open will cause ... meaning having to sign things saiding I will forego payments from it ... since it is open.

Any others run into this?

If you wanted to beat stock returns using consumer debt, that was never a winning beta unless you planned to use leverage.   I am happy with my Lending Club performance, but I used it instead of bonds

Bonds were my philosophy as well and used it as that part of my 'asset alloction'. https://debanked.com/p2pforum/index.php?topic=3221.0

My biggest regret was getting into 60 month notes after holding out for the longest time and only doing 36.

Overall I am pretty satisfied and feel fortunate it didn't go worse with all that transpired at LC.

Both my accounts ended up about a 13% charge off rate.

My 1099-OID acct:
Interest $67,640.47

My ROTH IRA acct:
Interest $55,504.47

Our cash is in Ally which is only paying 0.50% but it is reliable, quick, and convenient.  They've improved their "bucket" management and flexibility since it has come out which is pretty handy for planning at a high-level. https://www.ally.com/do-it-right/banking/what-are-ally-banks-savings-buckets-and-boosters/

I have a ROTH IRA in STRATA connected to one of my LC accounts.  If you have a ROTH IRA you can pull contributions at any time. Remember that all your ROTH IRAs at all the custodians you use logically count as one large ROTH IRA bucket. ie. you could have $50K at STRATA and $300K at Vanguard or Fidelity (or?) and spanned over both you have > $70K in contributions.  You can pull all of that $50K from your ROTH STRATA IRA without early withdrawal penalties to do with what you want. ie. even reinvest wherever.

I'm pulling a few thousand a month from STRATA thru automatic withdraws and it is not costing me any fees.

FYI on Ally checking. I was happy I helped my kid moved some money $25K to one of their CDs for 2.5% before some of these drops. Their future house downpayment.

15-20% is insane.  Its time has come and gone. Big players involved now.  Invest elsewhere. Stock market and other divesting.

Investors - LC / Worst Month Yet
January 23, 2020, 11:00:00 PM
STRATA contains a ROTH IRA for me that is comprised of
a) the remaining $5K of LC notes and
b) Wunder Capital "notes" [which have turned out excellent but they no longer offer retail anymore as they got bigger and obtains $ from big investors].
This means I'll keep it open for several years.

I have a regular (1099-OID) LC account still too. Not sure that was worth it as takes took too much of the profit.

If I had a do-over I'd probably never bought 5 year LC notes and just stuck with 3 year so the unwinding was quicker.

Was fun and entertaining overall tho.
