I very rarely read any of the loan details for the notes I purchase.  In the cases where I actually pull up the details the reasoning for the loan typically does not sway my decision one way or the other.  You can say I fall in the same camp as AiB and AmCap.  I am here to make a better ROI than I get leaving my money in my CU savings account.

Having said that, if some people want to make money AND help other people out, I say more power to you.  As rawraw suggested though, a reasonable level of skepticism is warranted since loan purpose is not verifiable.

P2P-Picks / Suggestions Thread

Just wanted to share some of my thoughts here.

Bryce – thanks for the Pick Tips.  Tip #6 got me looking around and I figured out I could adjust my tab setting under Tools – Internet Options to get the "Go" hyperlinks to open in a new tab.  Makes the adding multiple notes in rapid succession very easy.

I have noticed that the updates seem to be about 15 minutes after the hour; I'm wondering if you'll roll that back closer to the hour once you go live.  I've seen some of the notes get 70-80% funded by the time they are picked up on P2P-Picks.  Not a huge issue since even if we miss out on a particular issue there will be another pool of notes available w/in 4-12 hours.

Introductions / Welcome to the Lend Academy Forum

Hello all, my name is Cliff.  I actually stumbled upon the whole notion of peer-to-peer lending last December.  I was starting to pull my tax information together and was appalled at how little interest my savings accounts were making (a whopping 0.25%).  In the search for better returns without the risk and volatility of stocks I came across an article on peer-to-peer lending.  Long story short, I opened an account with LC right after the first of the year and have spent the last month buying notes.

Another Google search about two weeks ago led me to this site.  Wish I would have found it before I ever started.  My approach has been evolving since day one and after reading the wealth of information on this site my approach today resembles nothing like I started with.  Anyways, I'm still on a pretty steep learning curve and have enjoyed all the insight folks share here.  I have also enjoyed taking a more active role in investing and look forward to steering my account toward a double digit ROI.
