Title: LendingClub Picks Paused Pending API Changes
Post by: brycemason on June 19, 2014, 11:00:00 PM
In mid-June, LendingClub made some changes such that users of its website received access to new loans substantially more quickly than users of its API. As P2P-Picks is reliant on the API to automate its processes, this information gap has caused pick volume to decline precipitously. Thus, we are suspending the picking process until LendingClub has made improvements that enable us to resume our practices.

Re: caused pick volume to decline precipitously.

Any consideration to just letting it work as best it could ... meaning show the ones that are still available?  That was working OK earlier this week.  Some folks would be happy with that vs nothing. Food for thought.

I thought about it, but decided the full perspective or nothing was the right thing to do.

In other news, we will be working this weekend toward having Prosper support. Looking for partners for Prosper order management presently.

Disappointing, but understandable.  I support you taking a stand even if it hurts me in the short term.  I'm hoping LendingClub wakes up.

I really hope Lending Club will change their policy in regards to API. Great to hear about Prosper support. Competition is always good!

If it makes you feel any better, I'm in the same boat. Cash is stacking up.

Disappointing move on LC's part; it's motivated me to open a Prosper account...

Bryce,

After hearing this, I set up my own BlueVestment filter and am using that right now. Am I also getting the dregs and leftovers going this route?

Hi Lee. I don't know how BV "sees" new loans. If it is reliant on the CSV/API, then you are not seeing all the loans because people using the website are getting that information 30 seconds faster than BV. LC.com users can run their own filters much faster than third-party sites now (that rely on the API/CSV).

Very sad about this :(

Send an email to LC voicing my displeasure.  Hope things can get turned around.  If not, add my voice to the 'something is better than nothing' group but as free users, we get what we pay for.  Thanks Bryce for all you've done so far.
