00:04.319 --> 00:07.289 Josh Feinberg: Hi, this is Josh, welcome to this week's Josh's 00:07.319 --> 00:10.979 JabGrab, grab the jab before it hits ya. I want to come to you 00:10.979 --> 00:13.949 today in regards to a topic that I was thinking about this 00:13.949 --> 00:17.309 morning. And that's whether you're a busy work person, or 00:17.309 --> 00:20.069 you're productive. And a lot of people think that, you know, 00:20.069 --> 00:24.179 busy equals productive. In a lot of cases, that's not the truth, 00:24.449 --> 00:28.559 right? Because if you're busy, you know, I can guarantee a lot 00:28.559 --> 00:31.349 of the characteristics that you have are, you have a lot of 00:31.349 --> 00:35.969 frantic work, you're thinking in the short term, you have goals, 00:35.969 --> 00:39.239 and a lot of times those goals, you know, aren't actually hit 00:39.239 --> 00:42.869 because you're so busy. And there's a lot of characteristics 00:42.869 --> 00:46.679 that go into busy work. Now, if you're a productive person, 00:46.679 --> 00:49.349 right, instead of actually having goals, you probably have 00:49.349 --> 00:52.739 priorities. And what I mean by that is, you'll actually 00:52.739 --> 00:56.489 schedule, you know, your priorities in a numbers game. So 00:56.489 --> 01:01.799 let's say for instance, you had task A,B,C, D, right, and wrote 01:01.799 --> 01:05.219 those down on a piece of paper, and you knew that D was the most 01:05.219 --> 01:08.879 important thing you had to get done. And then then would come B 01:08.879 --> 01:12.719 and then would come A and then would come C, right. And, you 01:12.719 --> 01:16.589 know, that is very important, as far as being able to be 01:16.589 --> 01:20.249 productive, in being able to set priorities and be able to know 01:20.249 --> 01:22.889 when to structure it, right. And there's no right or wrong, you 01:22.889 --> 01:25.679 know, you got busy people and you got productive people. Not 01:25.679 --> 01:28.409 saying that people that are busy, aren't productive, there's 01:28.409 --> 01:31.199 just two different characteristics there. So you 01:31.199 --> 01:33.749 know, one of the things that you I want you to take a look at for 01:33.749 --> 01:37.229 yourself, is if you're busy or productive, because one of the 01:37.229 --> 01:40.559 problems with busy is you always feel like that, you know, work 01:40.559 --> 01:42.959 is frantic, you know, you're going crazy. And you're like 01:42.959 --> 01:45.659 running in a bunch of different places, and you never really 01:45.659 --> 01:48.629 have a clear path of where you're going. And that can 01:48.629 --> 01:51.689 actually create, you know, some downfall. And you know, you're 01:51.689 --> 01:54.629 not being as productive as possible, comparatively, on the 01:54.629 --> 01:57.869 other end, you know, what your long term goals are, and you've 01:57.869 --> 02:02.039 kind of set the steps to get there. So you know, what I want 02:02.039 --> 02:06.149 you to focus on this week is if you are productive, or you're 02:06.149 --> 02:09.659 just busy, because the thing is, at the end of the day, you want 02:09.659 --> 02:13.019 to be able to be productive. And you know, you can go on Google 02:13.019 --> 02:16.019 and Google a bunch of different articles on how to be more 02:16.019 --> 02:20.789 productive rather than busy. And, you know, busy is kind of 02:20.789 --> 02:24.719 like a you know, I guess you could say a scapegoat to, y 02:24.719 --> 02:27.599 u know, saying, "Oh, I'm doing my job. Look how good I'm doing 02:27.599 --> 02:30.869 my job." It's kind of like a f lse sense of productiveness, ri 02:30.989 --> 02:34.919 ht. So you want to be able to f cus on being productive by doing 02:34.919 --> 02:38.369 the necessary things that make you productive, and that's 02:38.369 --> 02:41.489 (1) looking at the long t rm, (2) creating the necessar 02:41.669 --> 02:45.269 steps. (3) Don't be frantic, e calm, (4) and be able to work 02:45.269 --> 02:47.159 hrough what you need to work through. H
